--JT Grow Light brings an efficient and low-cost in-layer air supply solution.
In recent years, vertical agriculture has been widely used, and the corresponding vertical grow racks are also favoured by growers. Growers hope to get higher yields in limited space. However, in a closed space, vertical planting will not be blocked, but plants also need to breathe, and unobstructed air can be beneficial to plant growth.
Here, we will analyse in detail why air circulation in multi-layer planting systems becomes a problem and share how JT Grow Light provides growers with cost-effective, transportation-friendly, and excellent solutions through innovative in-rack air circulation designs.
What challenges does air circulation in vertical grow racks present?
In traditional single-layer planting, natural air convection and top ventilation systems can meet the air circulation needs of crops. But under the multi-layer structure, problems follow:
✅ 1. Closed space and air stagnation
The small spacing between multi-layer planting racks limits ventilation channels, making it difficult for air to flow, which hinders plant respiration and leads to a decrease in CO₂ concentration in the air, ultimately affecting plant photosynthesis.
✅ 2. Local high temperatures hinder plant growth
Each layer of indoor planting is equipped with LED grow lights, which will generate heat. The heat emitted by the lamp tube cannot be cleared in time, which will form a local high-temperature environment, causing the plants to be in a "stifling" environment, slowing down growth or even burning leaves.
✅ 3. Difficult to arrange the ventilation equipment
The fans on the top or side walls cannot deliver wind to each layer of plants well, forming dead corners in the lower layer and the middle area, with poor ventilation efficiency, and are unable to fully solve the indoor ventilation problem.
JT Grow Light's solution: In-rack Air Circulation
In order to truly solve the problem of air circulation in multi-layer planting systems, the JT Grow Light team combined years of plant factory project experience to launch an in-rack air circulation system designed specifically for vertical grow rack systems.
Initial solution: iron bellows + PC thick pipe air supply
In the early stages of the project, we used a large iron bellows system to deliver air to each layer of plants through a PC thick air duct. The advantages of this system are strong wind power and precise control, but there are also significant disadvantages:
1) The equipment is large and expensive to transport, as it takes up significant container space and raises logistics costs;
2) The appearance is bulky and occupies a large space, which is not conducive to equipment maintenance and scene beauty.
3) Installation and disassembly are time-consuming and labour-intensive, and occupy the area of the warehouse.
We realised that to make the air supply system truly suitable for modern, efficient agriculture, it is necessary to strike a balance between a lightweight structure and uniform airflow.
Upgraded solution: plastic fan + cloth duct
After redesign and field testing by product designers, JT Grow Light launched the second-generation in-layer air supply system, which perfectly solved the previous pain points.

🌬️ The main upgrade highlights are as follows:
✅ The fan features a plastic shell that is lighter and more aesthetically pleasing.
The fan shell is made of lightweight plastic material, which greatly reduces the overall weight and volume, making transportation and installation more convenient. At the same time, we optimised the air outlet angle and noise control of the fan to improve the user experience.
✅ Cloth duct replaces PC thick duct.
The traditional PC hard duct is replaced by a flexible cloth duct, which not only makes the air flow distribution more uniform but also can freely adjust the air outlet direction according to the floor height to achieve full coverage of air supply and avoid dead corners.
✅ Obvious cost and transportation advantages
1) From the past 1*40 HQ container transportation, it has been optimised to 1 carton to complete the duct loading;
2) Greatly reduce international transportation costs while facilitating inventory management;
3) Installation time is reduced by about 40%, and maintenance is simpler.
Feedback from actual applications
The feedback data from customers using JT's in-layer air supply system shows:
1. Not only is the appearance more fashionable, but the air circulation on each layer is more uniform, the plants grow better, and the average yield increases by 8%-12%.
2. The incidence of diseases in high-humidity areas is reduced by more than 40%.
3. After the air circulation efficiency is improved, the energy consumption of air conditioning is reduced by about 15%.
Summary
In indoor planting, "ventilation" is an easily overlooked but crucial link. It is not just as simple as "blowing air", but it is directly related to the health, growth rate, yield, and pest control of plants. JT Grow Light not only focuses on light efficiency and space utilisation but is also committed to providing a complete one-stop planting environment solution.
Our in-layer air supply system is helping more and more vertical farms and greenhouse growers achieve smarter, higher-yield, and lower-energy planting goals.
