Recently, we've been grappling with a persistent question internally:
1) Why do vertical farming lights in the industry never seem slim enough?
2) Why does "inter-layer height" become such a bottleneck for everyone-whether it's multi-tier cannabis canopies in North America or new leafy greens factories in Asia-once they start vertical farming?

Many growers share this bitter realization:
They call it vertical farming, but once the lights are installed, a third of the usable inter-layer height vanishes.
Stagnant air, heat buildup, uneven PPFD, blocked airflow-crops grow unevenly... It just gets more frustrating the longer you farm.

We've seen this pattern too often. That's why our engineering team decided to redefine what a vertical farming light should look like.

JT envisions launching a new generation of thinner, lower-heat, more uniform LED grow lights specifically for racks-designed to completely solve vertical farming's perennial problems: "not enough space," "heat buildup," and "uneven canopies."

1. Why must vertical farms use "thinner" lights?
When building vertical grow racks, you face three very real challenges:

① Inter-tier spacing is only 25–45cm. Thick lights leave no room for crops to grow.
Especially leafy greens, seedlings, small-fruited crops, and clones-these varieties are highly sensitive to overhead space. A 5cm-thick light versus a 2cm-thick one isn't just a 3cm difference; it's the difference between "being able to breathe normally" or not.

② Bulky lights = blocked airflow = heat buildup = uneven canopy lighting
Air circulation is already challenging within racks. Adding large, bulky lights further obstructs airflow.
Excessive heat accelerates blue light decay and destabilizes the spectrum.

③ Thick lights create shadow zones, leading to uneven PPFD distribution
The essence of rack lighting is to illuminate more diffusely, evenly, and closer to the canopy.
No grower wants to see hotspots, dark zones, or unevenly lit plants in a 30cm shelf space.

2. Why can JT make LED grow lights thinner?
We didn't just shave aluminum thinner-we completely redesigned the structure:

① Using lighter, more efficient heat dissipation modules
Thin ≠ hot. We redesigned heat dissipation pathways to boost thermal conductivity, preventing heat buildup even when the fixture is close to the canopy.

② External driver design for greater shelf flexibility
Many growers complain: "The light is thin, but the driver is bulky and still takes up space."
We addressed this by moving the driver externally and adding quick-mounting features, making shelf arrangement incredibly convenient.

③ Wider, denser light coverage-illuminating uniformly across the entire surface, not just at single points
A major challenge in thinning the lamp is maintaining uniformity. We achieve commercial-grade uniformity through denser LED placement + custom optics.

④ Full-spectrum commercial-grade light spectrum, with optional 660nm/730nm
Thin doesn't mean compromise. We maintain full-spectrum configurations so plants can develop properly even in narrow spaces. Want 660nm to boost flowering? We can add it. Need 730nm for faster vegetative growth? We can customize it.

3. How do slim grow lights solve growers' pain points?

① Increases inter-layer space utilization by 20–40%
Grow racks that previously supported only 3 layers can now accommodate 4 or even 5 layers. This isn't a minor improvement-it doubles yield per square foot.

② Reduces canopy temperature and plant stress
Thinner lights = fewer heat sources, fewer heat sources = no mysterious "hot spots" appearing in the canopy

③ More uniform PPFD for consistent crop development
Thin lights offer a natural advantage: their light-emitting surface sits closer to the entire layer, ensuring better light uniformity. Growers no longer need frequent adjustments to light spacing.

④ Better suited for automation and high-density cultivation
Thin lights create smoother airflow between layers, improving fan efficiency and stabilizing crop transpiration.

⑤ Lower shipping and installation costs
Thin = Lightweight = Cheaper shipping = Faster installation-ideal for large-scale projects.

4. JT Photoelectric's Advantages in LED Grow Lights
While others compete on luminous efficacy, 2.8 μmol/J ratios, and aesthetics...

What truly boosts growers' yields is: structure, thickness, thermal management, uniformity, and rack compatibility.

We design LED grow lights by addressing growers' pain points head-on.

Over the past two years, JT has elevated core QC standards by enhancing heat-dissipation structures, ensuring spectral consistency, and implementing 100% burn-in testing.

Future developments include: thinner designs, auto-dimming capabilities, lower heat output, and integrated rack+light systems.
